About Our Camp

Our Camp

REGISTRATION FOR AFTC TENNIS & SPORT CAMPS WILL OPEN MARCH 18th

We have the perfect setting to run our summer sports camps: our indoor six-court temperature-controlled tennis facility, and access to a turf field, both surrounded by our beautiful woodlot, make it a camper’s paradise.
In our camps, we group kids according to their age and skill level. This ensures kids are engaged and challenged at an appropriate level to experience growth and success.
Our main focus is for kids to learn to play tennis, however, to keep the energy and focus during the long day they will also do other activities.
Throughout the week campers will have an opportunity to play soccer, basketball, volleyball, pickleball, and explore the woodlot doing scavenger hunts, checkpoint races, or going for a leisurely hike.

ACTIVITIES

Tennis

Our certified Tennis Canada coaches will group kids according to age and skill level where modified tennis equipment is used to learn to play tennis quickly. Red balls and mini courts are used for 6-8 year olds, 9-11 year olds use orange balls on a ¾ court, and 12 and above use green/regular on the full court.

Pickleball

Campers will be introduced and learn the basic skills of pickleball. This easy fun game will help develop eye hand coordination, control, and reaction to improve all racket sports.

Soccer

Outdoors on the turf or indoors in the event of inclement weather kids will learn footwork, ball handling skills, dribbling, and tactics through appropriate drills and games. Scrimmages will allow kids to develop strategies and an understanding of teamwork.

Basketball

This portion of the camp will be indoors. Through skill development and drills kids will learn how to pass, dribble and shoot.

Nature

We are fortunate to have easy safe access to the woodlot. AFTC staff will assess what adventure activities they will do based on the general age of the campers and weather conditions.

Other Activities

Throughout the camps our creative staff will also be doing other sports and activities.

Girls Only Camp

Girls 7 – 10 years old will love our action packed girls only camp. Besides tennis, we are planning different activities each day. Ricki Lee and her team have prepared an amazing week of activities, both indoor and outdoor.

Olympic Week (Full Day Only)

Week 1, 6, 10

These weeks are designed to give campers an opportunity to work as individuals and in a team environment. Points will be given to teams throughout the week for activities and games done individually or as a team. Campers will be drafted onto teams based on age and skill level. Teams will compete against each other in a variety of sports and adventure activities.

Le Petit Tennis 4-5 years

By popular demand, we are offering a full and a half day option. A minimum of 4 registrations is required to run a full-day camp. Please note both half and full days will be canceled if there are less than 4 registrations. You will be notified 10 days before the camp start date if there is a possibility the camp might be canceled.
This Active Start stage in development is to promote the love of physical activity while laying the foundation for the future enjoyment of all sports. Boys and Girls 4-5 years old will learn moving patterns, balance, and coordination while having fun doing various physical activities.
Le Petit Tennis gets kids engaged in tennis-related activities using modified equipment making tennis fun and easy to learn. Our summer camp ratio is 6 -1 with a maximum of 12 kids per camp and a minimum of 4.

Adventure Camp

Besides biking down to the river to do canoeing with Second Nature Outdoors instructors, campers will explore the woodlot on foot or bikes. While enjoying the outdoors they will practice their orienteering skills and experience some outdoor cooking.  The last day campers end off with a mini adventure race. Indoor activities will be tennis, basketball, or indoor soccer.
Please ensure your child is comfortable cycling downtown and back up the center.
