tennis and sports camp
6-15 yrs

"This signature camp is held weekly throughout the summer, and the Olympic-themed week includes all the same activities."

Our Tennis & Sports Camp is designed with tennis as the primary focus. Campers will learn and develop the fundamental skills required to enjoy and play tennis for life. Through structured instruction, fun drills, and game play, participants will improve their technique, coordination, and understanding of the game, regardless of their current ability level.

While tennis is the main emphasis, we recognize that playing only tennis for 7.5 hours a day is not the most effective or engaging way for young athletes to learn. To keep campers motivated, energized, and excited throughout the day, we incorporate a variety of other sports and physical activities into the program.

These additional activities help develop overall athleticism, including balance, agility, speed, coordination, and teamwork. By exposing campers to different sports and movement patterns, we enhance their physical development in ways that directly benefit their tennis performance while also building skills that transfer to many other sports.

Our goal is to create a fun, active, and supportive environment where campers not only improve their tennis skills but also build confidence, make new friends, and develop a lifelong love of sport and physical activity.

Throughout the week, campers will have the chance to play sports like soccer, basketball, volleyball, and pickleball. They’ll also have fun exploring the woodlot with activities like scavenger hunts, checkpoint races, or a relaxing hike, ensuring an active, fun, and enriching camp experience.

Our Active Start – Le Petit Tennis camp introduces boys and girls ages 4–5 to the joy of physical activity while building the foundation for lifelong participation in sport. Through fun and engaging activities, children develop fundamental movement skills such as running, jumping, balance, coordination, and spatial awareness.

Using modified tennis equipment and creative games, young campers are introduced to tennis in a way that makes the sport easy to learn, active, and fun. The program focuses on developing confidence, movement skills, and a love of being active, while giving children their first positive experiences with tennis and other physical activities.

In addition to tennis, campers will also enjoy outdoor playtime and a variety of off-court activities, helping them stay active, explore different movements, and keep the day fun and engaging.

activities

Tennis

Our certified Tennis Canada coaches will group kids according to age and skill level where modified tennis equipment is used to learn to play tennis quickly. Red balls and mini courts are used for 6-8 year olds, 9-11 year olds use orange balls on a ¾ court, and 12 and above use green/regular on the full court.

Pickleball

Campers will be introduced and learn the basic skills of pickleball. This easy fun game will help develop eye hand coordination, control, and reaction to improve all racket sports.

Soccer

Outdoors on the turf or indoors in the event of inclement weather kids will learn footwork, ball handling skills, dribbling, and tactics through appropriate drills and games. Scrimmages will allow kids to develop strategies and an understanding of teamwork.

Basketball

This portion of the camp will be indoors. Through skill development and drills kids will learn how to pass, dribble and shoot.

Nature

We are fortunate to have easy safe access to the woodlot. AFTC staff will assess what adventure activities they will do based on the general age of the campers and weather conditions.

Other Activities

Our experienced summer camp staff have a variety of other fun activities to keep the campers busy, such as table tennis, 4 square volleyball, baseball, and frisbee.
